The Scottsdale Cultural Council has appointed Neale Perl as its new president and CEO. Perl is the president emeritus of D.C.-based Washington Performing Arts, where he served as president and CEO from 2002 to 2013. This August the Grand Canyon Music Festival's Native American Composer Apprenticeship program is celebrating 10 years of music making. String quartet ETHEL has been the ensemble-in-residence for the program from its inception.
14-year-old Sade Moore was given an opportunity this year: a program at her school called “Heroic Journey” -so without formal classical training Sade chose to write a piece of instrumental music. She saw the program as an opportunity to challenge herself and stretch her abilities and her imagination.
