To be a teacher of anything you have to be a lifelong learner. Honing any skill is, at times, a solitary journey. And then there are those magical occasions when you come together with your peers and share and discover ideas.

Arizona Musicfest recently awarded scholarships to four of Arizona's finest young musicians majoring in instrument performance at four renowned schools across the country.

Three of the winners, Pianist Karen Nguyen, Violinist Jeanelle Brierley and Pianist Evan Pensis, have also been featured Sundays at noon, on 89.5 K-Bach's Encounters with Young Musicians Series.

Following last season’s sold out performances, Ballet Arizona has returned to the Desert Botanical Garden with the ground-breaking masterpiece, TOPIA. Master Choreographer Ib Anderson takes his first cues from the spectacular Arizona sunsets.

The Valley’s own Frank Darimento explores the best of both worlds, as he leads La Forza Chamber Orchesta and a jazz Quintet in a concert, Jazz at the Symphony, 7:30pm, Friday, May 17, at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Paradise Valley. K-Bach’s Janine Miller caught up with Frank about the concert.
