Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts presents the Irish Chamber Orchestra featuring conductor JoAnn Falletta and flutists Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 8 p.m. K-Bach's Janine Miller chats with Sir James Galway for tonight's Heart of the Arts Feature.
Sir James and Lady Galway will premiere Belfast composer Philip Hammond’s Carolan Variations, a work inspired by tunes by Irish harpist Turlough O’Carolan, in a new version for two flutes and chamber orchestra. The program also will feature Hamilton Harty’s Fantasy for Flute and Orchestra, In Ireland, and, one of Sir James’ signature works, Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major.
